Celebrating individual and collective success at Flame Awards 2017
UKactive’s Flame Awards celebrate innovation and excellence in the health, fitness and physical activity sector - recognising individual achievements, exceptional facilities and outstanding organisations.
GLL is well represented among the list of finalists, with swim teacher Harley Hicks shortlisted for the Spirit of Flame Award – in celebration of his continued efforts to encourage communities and indviduals to become more active through swimming.
A number of GLL centres have also been recognised, with Kentish Town and Eltham Leisure Centres both among the nominees for Leisure Centre of the Year for multi-use facilities – while Pancras Square Leisure Centre has been shortlisted in the equivalent category for streamlined centres.
Furthermore, GLL has also made the shortlist for Leisure Operator of the Year.
Shortlisted entrants were the standout performers throughout varied auditing processes for each category – including mystery shopper visits, customer surveys and public voting.
GLL MD Mark Sesnan said: “I am extremely proud that our social enterprise has been shortlisted across a number of categories at these prestigious industry awards.”
“It’s a reflection of our commitment to excellence across the business - from individuals to whole centres to the wider GLL operation, as we work together to get more people more active more often.”
Winners are due to be announced in June as part of the Flame Conference in Telford.
