Leisure Centres in Camden

Message from Rachel Stopard, Director of culture and environment, London Borough of Camden

We're always looking for ways to increase the positive impact of sport and physical activity for local people. Camden's fantastic sport and leisure centres demonstrate our commitment to encouraging everyone to lead healthier lifestyles. We pride ourselves on the wide range of high quality facilities we offer at affordable rates and we ensure that we provide options for everyone, regardless of age and ability.

Camden's partnership with GLL, sees us regularly reviewing the classes, activities and services to make sure they meet the needs of the community. Please continue to let us know what you think about what is on offer and where we can improve.

You'll be able to take advantage of the state-of-the-art refurbishment of Kentish Town Sports Centre in 2010, with the reopening scheduled for the summer. The centre includes three swimming pools and over 125 new fitness machines and the reopening will also mark two years until the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. While we can't guarantee you'll make the Olympic team by training there, you'll certainly improve your health and fitness! Mornington sport and fitness centre's refurbishment is now complete and includes an area dedicated for young people, The Zone. Combined with the brand new gym and refurbished fitness suite, there's something for the whole family.

We also offer a wide range of options for getting active.   With eight outdoor gyms located across Camden, most residents are within a 20 minute walk of one. Visit Camden.gov.uk/outdoorgyms to find your nearest location.

The following pages of this guide outline how you can take advantage of what's on offer in your borough. We hope you find it useful and that you take advantage of the fantastic facilities available to benefit your health and fitness.
