GLL have continued with investment projects which has included a £115,000 expansion of Gurnell's Fitness Facility to cater for ongoing demand, as well as an upgraded Climate Control System. Further projects funded by Ealing Council will include a £400,000 investment into the Air Handling and Pool Ventilation System, which will follow on from the recently completed roof refurbishment, also the creation of a children's playground and Skate Park in brand new landscaped surrounds.
As a result of the free swimming campaign coming to an end earlier than planned as a result of the withdrawal of the Government Funding for this scheme, GLL have made a commitment to continue offering a campaign for youngsters to encourage them to keep swimming by introducing the GLL Kids for a Quid scheme that offers entry to the swimming pool for youngsters aged 16 and under for £1, and at certain times entry is still free for these youngsters.
GLL and the council have continued their campaign to widen access and opportunities for the community to participate in fitness activities at their local leisure centres.
Both Dormers Wells and Gurnell Leisure Centre have undergone QUEST assessments, the UK Quality Scheme for Sport and Leisure and are ranked amongst the top 10 leisure centres in London. QUEST is the industry definition of good practice and high standard and is backed and supported by Sport England.
A lot of work has gone into making the centres a success and we will continue to look at ways we can further improve on the services we provide. I hope that residents continue to benefit from our facilities and we are always keen to receive feedback.
