Fitness Centre and Studio now open
UPDATE: 5 March 2010
A phased programme of works is now in place for the reopening of Atherton Leisure Centre.
Newham Council and GLL expect to continue to open parts of the centre following the opening of the Fitness Centre and Studio on Wednesday 5 March.
The two pools at the centre are due to open in mid-March and the remainder of the building, which includes the health suite and bowls area, is set to open in late April.
The centre was shut after asbestos was found during a routine health and safety inspection.
We would like to thank users of the leisure centre for their patience while the works are carried out and apologise for any inconvenience this closure has caused.
