Charlton Health & Fitness Closure

Charlton Health & Fitness Centre will be closing on 31st August 2008.  The lease for the premises used by the leisure centre is due to expire in January 2009 and it has always been envisaged that the centre would have to close or relocate at that time.   Unfortunately, Charlton Health & Fitness Centre has always traded at a loss and thus its future is not sustainable, particularly in the current economic climate.

However, GLL was recently approached by Greenwich Community College - looking for new premises in which to expand its local, community-based educational services.  The Charlton Health & Fitness Centre premises offer the ideal site to cater for the college's requirements - ensuring that its educational provisions remain at the heart of the community and benefit local residents.  Rather than take on the lease in early 2009, it is considered beneficial that the college make the move at the beginning of the academic year - September 2008. 

We appreciate the inconvenience the closure will cause you.  Other Greenwich leisure centres available for use are: - Arches Leisure Centre, Coldharbour Leisure Centre, Eltham Centre, Plumstead Leisure Centre, Thamesmere Leisure Centre and Waterfront Leisure Centre.
