*In participating boroughs only*
As part of the free swimming programme, several London Boroughs are providing swimming for free during public times, at participating pools.
A Government initiative with funding contributions from the Department of Health, the Department for Work and Pensions, Communities and Local Government, the Department for Children, Schools and Families and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
"The programme will contribute to Government’s ambition of getting two million more people more active by 2012" Government spokesperson
Mark Sesnan, Managing Director of GLL said, "We are strong supporters of the Government's 'Free Swimming' initiative and expect that it will increase demand for swimming facilities across the Capital. The scheme will impact everyone from non-swimmers dipping their toe into the water for the first time, to competitive club swimmers.
"Not only is swimming an essential life skill, but also a social and healthy recreational activity that can be enjoyed by all members of the family regardless of age or fitness level."
Do not forget your locker money. Lockers are either 20p coin retain or £1 coin return depending upon the Centre you visit.
