GLL GREEN CHAMPIONS
At GLL, each of our 70 leisure centres have identified an Energy Champion to take a lead on the GLL Green agenda. Our Energy Champions are trained centrally by the Energy Manager and complete weekly building walks to identify areas of water and energy waste and report back to the General Manager. Energy Champions also assist the Energy and Enviroment Manager and GM in implementing and championing other environmental initiatives as they are introduced.
The main functions of a GLL Green Energy Champion are:
- identify areas of energy waste within the centre
- identify areas of water waste within the centre
- propose ideas for reducing energy waste and promote environmental initiatives
- carry out regular inspections of the centre in order to appraise the manager of current issues
- promote energy efficiency and environmental awareness within the staff team
- attend departmental meetings to help the General Manager to communicate relevant energy and environmental information
- encourage ideas from the staff team and liase with the General Manager on the feasibility of implementing the best ideas
