Useful links to organisations involved with sport and physical activities

Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) - the English national governing body for swimming, diving, water polo, open water, and synchronised swimming.  It organises competition throughout England, establishes the laws of the sport and operates comprehensive certification and education programmes for teachers, coaches and officials as well as its renowned Learn To Swim Awards scheme.

British Paralympic Association
- a registered charity which is responsible for selecting, preparing, entering, funding and managing Britain' s teams at the Paralympic Games and Paralympic Winter Games.

Parasport - A joint initiative between the British Paralympic Association (BPA) and the professional services firm Deloitte to improve how talented sports people at community level are identified and supported, with the aim of increasing participation levels in competitive sporting events.

England Athletics - the body responsible for the governance of Athletics in England 

UK Athletics -  the governing body for the sport of athletics in the United Kingdom

British Olympic Association - the BOA role is to lead and prepare our nation's finest athletes at the Olympic Games and has the responsibility for developing the Olympic Movement throughout the UK.

Sport England - an organisation committed to creating opportunities for people to start in sport, stay in sport and succeed in sport. Promote and invest in sport and are responsible for delivering the Government's sporting objectives.

British Gymnastics - the official governing body for Gymnastics within the UK

Inclusive Fitness Initiative - a programme that supports the fitness industry to become more inclusive, catering for the needs of disabled and non-disabled people alike.

High Sports - the leader in the field of independent indoor climbing operators.  High Sports' partnership with GLL has allowed them to set up a new network of small to medium sized climbing walls in Central London under the Climb London brand, providing a range of new activities for novice climbers.

GLL works in close association with Sport England, who have set up five sub-regional sport and activity partnerships in London, funded by the London Regional Sports Board.  These are:

Pro-Active South London - working in partnership with the boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Kingston-upon-Thames, Merton, Richmond-upon-Thames, Sutton and Wandsworth. 

Pro-Active North London - working in partnership with the boroughs of Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest.

Pro-Active East London - working in partnership with the boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Bexley, City of London, Greenwich, Hackney, Havering, Lewisham, Newham, Redbridge and Tower Hamlets.

Pro-Active West London - working in partnership with the boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow.

Pro-Active Central London - working in partnership with the boroughs of Camden, Islington, Kensington & Chelsea, Lambeth, Southwark, Wandsworth and the city of Westminster.
