Islington Spa Achieves National Recognition

Ironmonger Spa treatment

Spa London at Ironmonger Row Baths took the runners up spot in the Day Spa of the Year category at the prestigious Professional Beauty Awards 2016.

Islington’s first ever, public sector spa was one of just five day spas drawn from across the UK, to reach the final stages of the Best Day Spa competition. The rigorous judging process saw a team of judges try a range of treatments, interview staff and customers and also ‘mystery shop’ the facility.

The spa offers visitors a combination of traditional treatments and the latest modern therapies from leading brands such as Elemis, Dr.Murad and La Sultane De Saba as well as its own exclusive Spa London products. Also on offer is a fantastic range of thermal facilities including a Hammam suite, steam rooms, sauna, Hydrotherapy pool and relaxation lounge.

Spa London’s signature therapies include The Midas touch treatment, a 90 minute deluxe treatment that includes an all-over body scrub and foot ritual, followed by a deep tissue massage with professional therapists using Thai herb compresses and lymphatic drainage movements to massage the entire body and gently release heat generating a harmonious flow of energy. Rejuvenated skin then receives an application of Gold dry body oil so that it’s party ready.

A joint venture between not-for-profit social enterprise GLL and Islington Council, Spa London launched at Ironmonger Row Baths in 2012 following a massive £16.5 million pound restoration project of the former public washhouse, which included the installation of a state-of-the-art gym, revamped five-lane swimming pool and new second pool. The Spa was designed to offer an easily accessible, luxury experience at the heart of a popular community facility.

Spa London at Ironmonger Row Baths follows the successful introduction of the UK’s first public sector spa concept to Bethnal Green in London’s East End over six years ago. The original Spa London, which is housed within the historic York Hall building in Tower Hamlets. The Spa London chain now boasts seven locations across London and the South East.

Spa London Manager Melissa Evans comments: “To be named as a runner up for such a prestigious industry award and against such tough competition from across the country, is a fantastic achievement and reflects that passion and commitment that the team at Spa London Ironmonger Row puts into their work every day.”

Treatment prices start at just £10, while a three-hour visit to the thermal suite costs just £15 for concessions and £18 for non-members.
