In May 2004, Tower Hamlets Council and GLL entered into a long-term partnership to manage and develop the leisure facilities in the borough. Both partners are committed to raising standards and working together to fulfil our aim of putting you, the customer, first.
We place a high priority on promoting inclusion as well as the matter of making our services accessible to all within our community so that everyone has the opportunity to lead a healthy lifestyle and stay physically active.
We are also working together to create employment opportunities for young people in the borough to build a workforce that relates to the community.
Over the next few years Tower Hamlets and GLL are investing substantially in Tower Hamlets' Leisure Centres to enhance the facilities on offer. This will increase the range of opportunities available and bring positive benefits to all those who use the facilities.
We have already seen the completion of the first phase of the Mile End Park Stadium and Pitch development and opening of the Mile End Park Leisure Centre. York Hall has also undergone dramatic changes. With the first phase of this project complete, we are all looking forward to another top class facility for the local people of Tower Hamlets.
