A message from Cllr John Fahy, Cabinet Member for Culture and the Olympics
"As an Olympic host borough providing first-class leisure and training facilities and encouraging people, especially young people, to become involved with sport is our utmost priority. The Eltham Centre provides these facilities at the heart of the town centre, making them easily accessible for all.
Replacing the existing Eltham Pools, the new Eltham Centre boasts an eight-lane, 25-metre competition pool which will be used by the London Swim School. There will also be a family pool suitable for swimming lessons for beginners and parent and baby groups.
The 100-station fitness gym offers members the latest in technogym machines and there's a whole range of classes on offer, with something to suit everyone, in the exercise studio.
I'm proud that Greenwich Council, in partnership with GLL, has been able to deliver these new facilities. The Centre is the first of three similar centres to be built in the borough as part of the Council's £750 million modernisation programme. It's an integrated centre offering access to leisure and learning facilities and Council services all in one place."
The Eltham Centre will provide first class leisure, library, educational, community and council services to local residents. The innovative and attractive Centre is pioneering the way Greenwich Council is delivering its services in the future, and GLL are very excited to be a part of this project.
