London's leading social enterprise GLL has entered into a 15 year partnership with the London Borough of Lambeth to manage the councils leisure centres.
From 1 April 2007, GLL entered the long-term partnership operating Brixton Recreation Centre, Clapham Leisure Centre, Ferndale Community Sports Centre, Flaxman Sports Centre, Streatham Leisure Centre and Lambeth Parks. The partnership included a £3.6 million investment into the facilities in the first 12 months.
The new partnership has a strong focus on increasing participation for the entire community through improved customer service, new equipment, refurbished facilities and consistency in standards.
Cllr Lib Peck said:
"Lambeth Council welcomes the opportunity to work with GLL, an organisation that has become a major force within the leisure industry."
"GLL displays a strong commitment to social inclusion and customer-focussed service so I am optimistic that the targets we have built into the partnership will see an improvement in customer satisfaction levels at our facilities."
