Lambeth Council took the difficult decision to close Streatham Leisure Centre on the 25 November after investigations by structural engineers raised concerns about the condition of the building.
The council had closed the swimming pool on the 16 November after problems were identified with the ceiling, but further investigations have revealed more widespread structural problems in the building.
The safety of users is the council's paramount concern, and therefore the Centre is for the foreseeable future while further investigations take place to find out the extent of the work needed. In the meantime, people are being directed to the borough's other Leisure Centres in Lambeth which are a bus journey away, as well as other nearby public leisure centres.
Service Update
Streatham Leisure Centre is closed until further notice due to structural concerns whilst the building undergoes further investigation.
