Free swimming is only available in participating boroughs, please see above for details.  You need to be a membership card holder to take part in free swimming - to ensure you get a fast entry through reception and into the pool, it will be best if you can join online before you get to us (£1.00 charge applies).

Apply for your card by following these simple tasks:

• Fill out the registration online
• Get your parent/guardian or teacher's permission
• Your card will be sent to you in the post.
• Proof of identity will be required on first entry for all 8  to 16 year olds by showing your Oyster photo card or passport.  
• You will be required to pay a £1.00 administration fee to validate their account  (includes 17 year olds in Hackney). 
• You will be required to pay the fee upon your first visit to your Local Leisure Centre.

Terms and conditions of free swimming

• Free swimming is available at designated times 
• Times are indicated as Public Swimming sessions on our Pool programmes
• Centre and swim safely pool rules apply - see below
• Local authorities have the right to cease the free swimming programme at any time
• A £1.00 administration fee will be charged on first visit to your Leisure Centre.

Lockers either for 20p coin retain or £1.00 coin return dependant on centre

Swim Safely Rules:

• Non-swimmers and under 8s must be accompanied by a competent adult swimmer
• No more than two non-swimmers or under 8s to each competent adult swimmer
• The competent adult swimmers must actively supervise under 8s and non-swimmers
• Non-swimmers must remain in shallow water and it is strongly recommended that they use armbands and/or rubber rings
• Customer refunds will not be given to customers who have asked to leave the pool due to not being able to swim 25 metres
