Better Supports Students with SEN

At the beginning of this month, Better staff took part in a careers fair tailored to students with special educational needs (SEN). More than forty local employers went to the event at Swindon New College including Swindon Borough Council, Wiltshire Police, NHS Swindon, and Mind Swindon & Gloucestershire.

The fair, held at the college's North Star Campus, generated valuable networking opportunities for Better staff as well as the students, allowing them to meet and learn about other businesses in the local area. The event was also attended by the Mayor of Swindon (pictured).

Each stall offered insights into different career options, with representatives sharing details about job roles, requirements, and opportunities for advancement as well as work experience opportunities.

The Better stall provided students with an interactive experience by inviting them to attempt CPR compressions on a mannequin, providing an unusual opening to talk about careers in the leisure industry! We also had wider conversations about the future of the Oasis swimming pool, beginner swimming lessons for teenagers, badminton coaching and football.
