As a national charitable organisation that serves multicultural communities, we acknowledge the importance that our Board be diverse in terms of background, geography, skills and knowledge to create diversity of thinking.

At GLL, we do things differently. As a charitable social enterprise and worker-owned co-operative, we believe the people who deliver our services every day should have a real say in how we’re run. That’s why we’re governed democratically - by our staff, for our staff, and in service of the communities we support.

Our co-operative model means we share decisions, share responsibility, and share in the success we create together. This commitment to fairness, accountability and shared purpose is reflected in the way our organisation is led - through a Board of Trustees made up of elected employees, independent experts, and local authority representatives.

Together, they help shape GLL’s future while staying true to our founding principles of social impact, staff ownership, and long-term sustainability. The Board is made up of:

12 employees and society members , elected by the staff society at the AGM
6 Independent Trustees (non-employees), proposed and appointed at the AGM
3 Councillor Trustees, appointed by the Royal Borough of Greenwich to reflect our roots
Our Chief Executive Officer, serving in an ex-officio capacity
Our Company Secretary, proposed and appointed at the AGM
