Libraries and Cultural Services & GLL Literary Foundation

Rebecca Gediking

Rebecca Gediking is Library Services Director at GLL, leading the strategic direction and delivery of more than 124 public and prison libraries across the UK. With over 20 years’ experience across libraries, theatre and the arts, she brings a creative approach to leadership and the development of inclusive, imaginative services.

Rebecca is particularly interested in the role of libraries as strategic community assets and how they can contribute to wider priorities including reading and culture, health and wellbeing, skills and digital inclusion. She works with partners across the library and cultural sectors and has contributed to national programmes as a consultant, judge, panellist and advisor. She is also a member of the Libraries Connected Advisory Committee and the English Public Libraries Stakeholder Group.

Rebecca is Head of the GLL Literary Foundation, which she helped develop to support children’s authors, inspire readers and champion public libraries. In its first year, the Foundation supported 20 authors and reached more than 3,000 children.

Rebecca has spoken at national and international conferences and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (FCLIP) and the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).
