Steve Ward

Steve has overall responsibility for the organisation's digital, technology, infrastructure, software, data and cyber security functions. He leads the delivery of GLL's first enterprise-wide Digital & Technology Strategy, a transformative five-year programme designed to enhance both customer and colleague experiences while positioning the organisation as a leader in digital innovation. The strategy is driving significant change across the business through the adoption of modern technologies, improved digital services and strengthened operational resilience.

With more than 30 years' experience, Steve brings a unique blend of technical leadership, operational expertise and commercial understanding. Beginning his career with GLL as a lifeguard, he progressed through a wide range of operational, management and leadership roles, including centre and regional management positions to then move on to senior roles in marketing and sales. This breadth of experience provides him with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing both frontline teams and corporate functions working with a range of other organisations.

In addition to serving on the GLL Board in various capacities for more than two decades, he was Chair of GLL for 11 years, providing strategic leadership during a period of significant organisational growth and development.

As leader of a skilled Digital & Technology team, Steve is focused on using technology to improve services, strengthen security, empower colleagues and create better experiences for customers.
