Figures published this week by charitable social enterprise GLL, confirm women in the organisation are paid more than men on an hourly basis.

GLL’s Gender Pay Report (2025-2026) is based on its return to the Government’s Gender Pay Gap Service and a requirement for employers with a headcount of 250 or more.

At GLL, women’s median hourly pay is 2.4% higher than men’s. Women earned £1.02 for every £1 that men earned.

Women’s mean hourly pay is 8.19% higher than men’s. Women earned £1.08 for every £1 that men earned.

The worker-owned co-operative, set up in 1993, employs 12,472 people – 56% of which are women.

Women make up 40% of GLL’s leaders, 42% of its workforce apprentices and 50% of its Worker Board.

GLL’s People Director Lorraine Patrinos said: “As an Investor in People Gold Employer and Living Wage accredited organisation, GLL already offers award winning career opportunities and competitive pay packages.

“I am proud of the contribution women make to our successful and values driven business – and these new Gender Pay figures show they are rightly rewarded.”

“We remain committed to building a workforce that reflects and celebrates the diverse communities we serve.”

GLL provides jobs in leisure, libraries and children's services and operates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
